Can I use Pavestone (Crushed/Pulverized Limestone) as a DSB in my fuge?

Would i be better to use DOLOMITE as a DSB, are there any issues with this?

Also, how long does it usually take before a DSB starts reducing nitrates?

Also Also, lol, Is the slow flow through my fuge ok for a DSB?

I think limestone or dolomite would be great as long as it's sand grain sized. But you might want to cure it for a while so you're not adding unwanted nutrients to your tank that'll cause algae problems.

I mean it would be a good idea to rinse it really well and put it in a tub of water with a powerhead for about 3-5 weeks. And do weekly water changes of 50-100%. This is to get out any dirt or other gunk that you don't want in your tank.

Never had experience with that stuff but I do agree that it should be fine grain sized, you want it small enough that enough life can grow and help with the filtration.
