pax gobiana...or dare I put a diamond goby in my tank?

I have a yellow watchman and a mandarin in a 52g bow corner. Big sand footprint for its gallonage, lot of rock. All is peaceful and the mandarin makes a living in the 52. So does the ywg.

But the sand is crappy...and 2 conchs and 6 big nassarius aren't keeping up with it.

So: a) is the general white-powderiness and crappiness of the sand going to depress or encourage the pods?

b) if I got a sandcleaner like a tiger tail cuke would it clean too much for a 52? Would it be eating the pods?

c) if I got a diamond goby would it clean too much? Would it compete for pods with the mandarin? Would it fight the ywg?

What's my best route to less white powder in the sand---which gets kicked up easily----not to mention way much invert crap?

a) not sure what you are asking?

b) in an established tank, one individual should be ok--no they do not eat pods

c) Yes and possibly yes (more so the yellow watchman being aggressive to the diamond goby)

Inventive name for the thread lol. Tv qvoqve mi fili.

Et tu, Amphiprion?

So the watchman is the more aggro of the two. Hmm. He gets along with most, all bluster, little bite. That's promising. I was wondering if a sandsifter of whatever species would disturb the ecosystem on which the mandarin depends. But if a diamond leaves the pods alone, that's good. I may try this.b

Ever think of getting a sand sifting cucumber? I don't think they will deplete the pods, I had a mandarin and a cuke and when I removed my mandarin there where pods everywhere, hundreds all over the glass. So, I don't think he would be that detrimental to the populations the mandarin is interested in. Good Luck.
