Invert Sexy Time!
This is a tribute to the prior thread that I didn't want to just bump since un-related stuff ended up in that thread as well as it needed a clean start and update on who has what.

The purpose of this post is like the original. The idea here is to pay it forward and offer FREE frags to others. Your time running tanks and your skill level does not matter here. Frags are for the new and old alike! I personally love the fact that properly cared for coral can keep on giving, and IMO I wish people just gave it all away for free. Alas, people want it bad enough to pay for it, and supply and demand begins. However if you are one of the people who has a tank full of bad-arse expensive uber corals already please try to be somewhat fair to the people who don't and offer up something decently cool, just so the newbs don't get totally shafted. The idea here is to spread the love, not the greed!

The only requirement is in order to GET a free frag offered by someone else, you must OFFER a free frag up. I'm going to go ahead and say, it can be something other then coral, but needs to stay RC related, and of decent value. I.e. no live rock, no macro algae, etc. You may only take one item per item offered. I know tons of people with new tanks want to say ME ME ME to all the stuff, but its a one to one deal! I don't personally see a problem as long as you are offering up the same amount in return for the next person. Again, just try to think fairly and honestly.

Please eveyone make sure your frags are healed first. As a noob I picked a frag once that I didn't know wasn't as healthy as it could have been and lost it. I was a sadpanda. Also if possible try to de-pest whatever you give out. Also make sure you can SUPPORT the frag you are asking for. If you are not sure your system can support it, or have questions, people can always help out!

Just trying to look out for the new people we have.

Pictures are a bonus of course. MY camera is dead and until I get my replacement screen or borrow one I dont have pics of mine.

My offerings to the coral gods:

So, I have one frag of a montipora cup left. It's about 1.25" by 1/2" or so. Instead of a plug I mounted it to a thin stag coral skeleton so it will fit nicely into a rock hole. I believe it is green with red polyps but I'm red/green colorblind so I might be a bit off. I've actually given 2 other frags of this away already (one to 1337 and the other to phase) and they are loving it.

I have a small 2 branched SPS. Only about 1/2" long. I broke it off on accident when cleaning my glass. I *think* its a milli but cannot remember. I got the mother from turbovxr6carnamesomethinghere when I first started SPS a few months ago. It's green with reddish polyps as well. I stuck it to a plug about a month and a half ago and forgot all about it until I was messing with my powerhead and remember I stuck it in the back just to see if it would grow. Well it's growing like crazy and has tons of polyps.

Finally.. I have a blue stag. I bought this from evsalty a while back, and its healthy as far as I know, but I never seem to see polpys from it and after harrassing him endlessly it seems to be pretty normal for this one. (evsalty feel free to step in if I'm incorrect on something) I'd prefer if this frag went to someone who has SPS experience as the few people I've talked to seem to think this one is a sensitive one, slow grower as well, at least for me.

So I dont have a ton of UBER AWESOME stuff up, but it's all I got to start the ball rolling. Lets the free frags flow and the new colonies sprout up! I hope everyone participates, and even a tiny itty bitty healthy frag is worth something to someone, especially the new people!

Do you have a pic of this?

Who's taking bets on how long this thread will take to crash nose first into the ground?

Who's taking bets on how long this thread will take to crash nose first into the ground?

It's not different then the other freebie thread, not sure why this one wouldn't be allowed? I just didn't want to bump the other with its pages upon pages of uselessness..

It's not a for sale thread, just trying to give people a reason to spread the love. Still gotta be free, just have to post something else to offer to the next person.. etc.

If there is some blatent rule breaking by all means lemme know!

I'm sorry, I really shouldn't have put a whammy on this thread while it was still innocent.
Let's just hope for the best.

Thanks I appreciate it dgenr8. Part of why I wanted to get this started new and fresh was to clear it all the excess clutter and get back to basics!

I have a frag of purple stag and idaho grape montipora that were given to me for free to see if they would survive but I dont think I have enough light for them. I think they are supposed to be purple but they look more like a brownish to me. I'd rather pass them along before they die.

What sort of light set up to you have and do you have a pic of the coral in your tank and how far away it is from the lights? Do you think your tank is just not enough light for SPS in general, or just these specific ones?

Also, I'm going to see if I have the attention span to try to keep a list of everyones active offers in the main post. I'll probably start to fail at some point but I'll try anyway!

(so I suck and forgot there is a time limit on editing, so I'll do end post updates)

Currently offered:

Raf1985 (East Mesa)
idaho grape montipora
Purple Stag

mndfreeze (Tempe)
Orange/green monticup
Blue Stag
Unknown green SPS (hoping for turbovr to remind me. :D )

I have a 55g with 4x65 PCs. I placed them about 3-4" under the surface. I really would like to get more LPS and softies in there instead of SPS.

I dont know if this counts, but now that i'm in a generous mood, i also have 3 damsels up for grabs. A small 3 stripe, a small blue, and a large Sgt. Major. I was going to throw them into the aggresive tank with the lion and eel but if someone wants to save them then feel free. I do need a day or so to catch them though.

i duno what that is... are you sure its a milli?... kinda looks like nana but its hard to tell from the pics

Def not the nana, I did get a nana from you as part of that frag bag, the nana had to main branches, was much darker, polyp holes much more spread out and rounded tips.

Thats why I'm unsure. I can't identify SPS very well at all being I just got into it and sort of all at once when I got my halide while I had the chance. :D I swore that a mili was part of the group of stuff I got from you, but nothing looks like the milli's I'm used to seeing in the stores. So I'll just leave it at 'unknown' at this point until I can get a working camera to get a better shot then someone can ID it. Either way a frag from a branch I broke off of it while glass cleaning is up for grabs for free, any SPS is a good free starter SPS! :D

Raf, as far as I'm concerned free and free sounds good. I think livestock of any type is worthwhile for the thread and even some equipment IMO. I was given a free little biocube skimmer by an awesome member here and as cheapy as it is, it is night and day for my set up and budget! After the thread has gone a bit if no one wants your idaho grape I might take it off your hands. Part of why I'm getting rid of my monticup is my tank is soo small and I onl have one place I can really put one so I'm still so-so on if I want to go that route. But lets see after this thread has had some time and people hop in!

Everyone please remember the point of this all as well, to get those corals out there, share, try new things, etc. Even if later on its just not what you were looking for, it can always be traded or given to another in a thread just like this!

Oh come on peeps, don't let this thread die when its such a good idea. Put up some itty bitty frags that are healthy but not really worth 'selling' due to size or what not. I *KNOW* we have tons of nooblets here and I *KNOW* there are tons of others out there who dont have X Y or Z species.

Darn it, Larry going around putting whammies on threads like the shame, shame on you man!!

Mindfreeze man I'm just getting rolling agian dont even have my shrooms anymore otherwise I'd lay down some nice stuff. Good luck

I have plenty of Pink Anthillia & can probably hook everyone here up with a frag if you want it. So far nothing being offered is anything that I want though. I want Easy or nothin' at this point in time.
Frizz

Frizz: Understood and cool of you to still offer something up. I think if more people fall into that mode of thought, at least at first, things will start popping up people want and the trading can get going.
