I've picked up my first powder blue tang... I know... pain in butt right. He's been in my QT for 10 days being treated for ich. The ich comes and goes every few days but doesnt seem to be getting any better. I am treating with Herbtana Micro-Lift to increase immune system as well as controlled salinity starting at 1.013 and slowly increasing to display tank salinity of 1.025. The QT is empty of any ornamentation. Would like some advice if this is right or if I need to do anything else and just be patient. thanks http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/images/smilies/headwally.gif

if you're attempting hypo you need to get the sg to 009...013 wont do anything. you also need to keep it at 009 for four weeks, then slowly raise it back over a few days.

I'd treat with copper as a more effective means...cupramine and slowing ramp up to full dosage in a weeks time and leave it there for at least 21 days. I've treated all my tangs that way and no problems...

The herb stuff and the SG of 1.013 will not bother the ich at all. I'd suggest reading the ich stickies at the top of the disease forum and decide on a real treatment. Tank transfer is foolproof. Copper works too.
