PBT with bump

I got a powder blue tang a few days ago. She eats nori and picks rocks all day. She eats frozen mysis when it passes by or when there is a chunk on a rock she eats it all.

I noticed when I got her that she had a bump that is on both sides of her body and I'm not sure what it is. She is in qt.

Hopefully the pics are clear enough.

looking at mine it has a similar bump towards the center of the body. it's not as pronounced as yours I don't think, but it is still there.

Thank you for the feedback. I was hoping it was normal just wanted to make sure. She came in kinda skinny so I guess I am seeing more if her inner body than normal.

I don't think a lump is normal, though I suppose it may be something the fish can live with. I had a butterfly fish with a lump in about the same place, only just on one side, and the fish has died.

Thanks

I searched images for pbt and a good number of them has the lump at the same spot with the pbt in healthy condition.

my PBs lump is minimal though. you can only see it if the light hits his/her side just right, but it is there. I never thought anything of it.

I did a fw dip and started prazipro a few days ago. Nothing came out from the dip and she is eating so I'll cautiously believe she is okay just needs some weight added to her.

Sorry, I failed to read properly that you said the lump is on both sides. I had a PB yeas ago that came to me very underweight and had something similar which I think is just as you speculate - normal internal stuff that just looks more prominent until the fish gains some weight.

I appreciate the feedback. I was hoping that was it. I agree that if it was on one side only the prognosis wouldn't be good.

Short term update

Pbt has gained a little weight. The bump is not as big now that the rest of her body is filling out. Hopefully in the coming weeks the bump will not be obvious.
