PC bulb Life

Hello. I am currently running Powercompact bulbs for my tank lighting. I end up having to change one out every few months or so? The Ambenient temp in their box(Custom made with air cooling) Runs about 103 deg and they run 13 hours each day. Is this the expected life for these bulbs? could I change anything to get a longer lifespan? Thanks for the help.

People normally swap out at 6 months.
If you feel heat is tha cause of the shortened life, I would get some fans.

I do mine for a year, but that is because i can't afford to switch them every 6 months and still be able to buy other thinkgs for my tank.

I dont know if this is a possibility for you but have you considered making your hood elevated off the tank to allow more cool air flow to keep your lights from staying so hot? I'm using metal halides and had a real problem with temp. until I added 3 fans and switched to a hood that was off of the tank. For me it was worth the time and $$.
Hope that helps
