I've got a question on the lighting for my 150 DAS that I'm building totally on a shoestring budget (spent $900 and its fish/coral ready)
If your not familiar with a DAS they have a VERY slim/short canopy.
I was able to score 645 watts of PC lights for $100 and wanted to used them on this set-up. The tank is 24" deep.
I plan to grow mushrooms, zoa's, paly's, leathers and probably a euphilia up top. I thought I was good-to-go but have received some negative opinions and wanted to run it by you guys.
Metal Halides won't fit. T-5s are more than I want to spend (it would take a lot of them). VHOs are looking like an attactive alternative (if they will fit?!)...but if I'm going to drop some dough I'm even looking at the new LEDs, they seem cheeper in the long run.
Thoughts...anyone?
