PC lighting

I just set up a new frag tank 48x16x12 and I happen to have a PC lighting fixture sitting here doing nothing. It's 4-65W bulbs for a total of 260W. Will this work on my 12" tank? If not what would you recommend on a budget?

That would depend on what you are trying to propagate. if you are doing softies and LPS that is going to be raise off the bottom to about 8-6" then it would be ok. you could use it for SPS, but you wont usually get the poping color with the PC's as you would with T-5's or MH's.

On a 12" deep tank almost any light will work. Try the PC--you already own it. I have had about everything in PC tanks. Monti Caps as big as a dinner plate

Alright! Basically the only thing I am going to be putting in there right now are zoa's and a monti cap anyway.....
