i currently have two pearly jawfish in my 55 g tank and i read online that they dont usually share a burrow unless mating

how would i know if they mated or if they are going to?

what could i do with the fry once they hatched?

The best you could do is read up on other fish that are currently being tank raised and go from there. There is nothing saying you can't be the first, but there will be a significant investment of time and $$$ if you decide to try. Good Luck!!!

Do it...do it (whispered the voice inside your head telling you that you could be the FIRST!!!) I will help in any way to see if it is possible to do. I love the idea of breeding fish.
Find their reproduction period...when they mate, how often, what time of day they mate, what time of day/night the eggs hatch. Protein skimmer will eat them up if the other inhabitants don't, so it would be a chore. Needs a breeder tank, a grow-out tank, etc. probably.

Search the web. there are some really good articles on marine fish breeding. WetWebMedia.com might be a good source to ask some people. I also like rareclownfish.com I know, I know...it's not clowns you are trying to breed, but they have people breeding all sorts of fish and might be able to help. My name is the same on that site, so remember that I recommended it when you sign up. Great source of breeding information.

not currently tank raised is bull. they reproduce in aquariums just not yet at commercial levels. they are mouth brooders and are little fish but not as easy to catch before eaten but if you can catch them I think just hatched brine are a good first food and then cyclopeeze. after that just about anything. you will see the male I think stick his head out with a mouth full of eggs when they have them.
