peat pots in the tank?

I want to give some grasses a good start in my new 180. I thought if I planted each one in a little Miracle Mud in the bottom of a peat pot, then buried that in the sand, it might accomplish this goal. Of course in time, if it thrives, the grass would extend beyond the pot and the pot would disintegrate. Can anyone think of any harm that might come from this? Do you think it would work? Thanks

One thing is that peat is what they use to drop the pH in freshwater tanks. It turns the water the color of tea. It would seem like a bad idea to me.

With the peat buried beneath the substrate I dont think it will have a noticeable effect on water quality. There are members here that have used highly organic materials under their substrate to increase nutrients at the seagrasses/mangrove roots, and I cant recall having read of any ill effects. The member name triterium comes to mind, I'll see if I can dig up some threads.
