Neat pics! In the past year there were schools of pelicans diving on bait fish off a pier near Monterey I believe it was and the birds were getting tangled up in the lines of fishermen who were fishing off the pier. Fishermen were catching pelicans, which as you can imagine wasn't all that great for the birds. Once the bait fish stopped hanging out around the pier the issue resolved itself.
