Peninsula Style Look-Down Build

Looking great as usual Dan! I recently took everyones advice on rod's food. Now when I feed the corals I mix half rod's and half mysis. While my acans have always loved mysis, you should see how fast those things devour a small chunk of squid or any other variety of things that are found in rods! Definitely recommend. Gives a good blend of different sized foods so that even the small heads/frags can get enough nutrition as well. I've been bulking up on some high end acans as well and a few are around the same size as your frags. Budding heads already!

Thanks! perhaps i should look into rods food... or something similar.

last pic: i was messing with RAW pics (where you edit everything in photoshop)

came up with this:

Due to the fact that on other threads, ppl accused me of faking this one (too blue etc etc etc) thought id take a daylight shot. Well... the shot came out pretty decent ... So it just has to go on the build thread :)

serious note: How long should activated carbon last in a filterbag (not a reactor?) before it should be changed out? I've also heard of people kneading the carbon in the bag... what exactly does this do?

Good grief, that is one incredible tank with some beautiful pieces.

I would think kneading the bag would help loosen things up and distribute any "unused" carbon to the outer surface. Or I could be full of . . . well, you know. ;)

Thanks. I'll look into the carbon thing a bit more. Perhaps G will know...

hmmm, I have no idea how long my heater has been unplugged... (could be weeks) but i decided to check temp for once on my daily checkup... and it was 68. oh well. I was told 5 degrees per day until i'm back up to 80... sound about right?

yikes. I just did a water change last night, you're making me consider running home for lunch to check to see if I did the same thing..................

Yeah... i think i must have done just that. unplugged the heater while doing waterchange... and forgot to put it back on.

Oh well, so far... no coral losses. Actually quite the contrary. Hammers and acans opened up bigger than i've ever seen them before. And the rock nems were loving the cold-water life... weird. The zoos look good now... just took a while to open up this morning.

I just was wondering how long it takes for SPS to lose color from stress? They haven't lost any yet... but i have a feeling i will be getting some brown or white SPS soon... though polyp extension was good today.

On a lighter note: another gem from ABC pets. this guy is crazy. hope he lives (and not eaten my my nems)

i THINK coral banded, mine has a blue head like that...but not so much. but he's an adult...just FYI...those guys can be a little PITA when they get older. Mine has made lunch out of 3 very nice fish in the last month.

So far the boxer coral banded shrimp hasn't snacked on my other cleaner shrimp. hopefully they will be able to coexist for a long time together.

Things are really coming along Dan. The new acans look SICK and that orange hammer is a showstopper as usual.
