Penny size Holocanthus Africanus

gasman059

The OG mad scientist
Its been a long time since I've seen this fish , let along this size.
Anyways took a couple of pics of this baby.

He's gonna live in my QT/Aclimation tank by himself FOR A WHILE as I don't think he stands a chance in my display for another 6 months.

Pretty bad pics but needed to share for all of you angel freaks.

I like them as adults also-- to each thier own.
Its gonna be a while and I can only hope I can see this guy to adulthood.

Great angel. Although not flashy when adult like other Holocanthus members it's a favorite of mine. Does just fine on our available foods and less agressive than the rest of the family. :)

Awesome pick up! To get one that size is very cool. I wish you the best of luck with it and hope you keep us updated with pictures as it matures!

Awesome score!!

I have been looking for a very small one for a long time. Typically the juveniles that I see are quarter size. I simply love this species and to be honest I like the adult coloration as much if not more than the juvenile. There are tons of blue fish, but the adult coloration of this species is totally unique. I love how they develop the ear spot as they mature!

Congrats on an amazing fish.

I have an equally small Imperator.
For succesful feeding, it needs lot of live rock/mature tank surfaces (algae, pods etc) to peck on.
Mine loves the Ocean Nutrition Frozen lobster eggs, cyclops and red plankton.
I also rear and feed live brine shrimp.

Wow...Very nice, my favorite juvi angel out there....Not bad as adults either, but just stunning as juvi's. That juvi pic Luiz posted is spectacular.

unfortunately he's MIA today, he's in a 30 with tons of LR and grazing material by himself but no sight of him today--NOT GOOD.
