I have been looking for months for a DSLR. I am going to use it for corals and my son's sports. I do not care about the video and I would use the eyepiece not the screen. I have been looking at the Pentax K-z. I can buy it for around 150 a month which I am able to do. Any one have any thoughts on this camera?
Thanks
Assuming that you are talking about the new Pentax Kx.
I tried it out recently in the store and with a friend and was really surprised by the performance and the advances over the previous pentax models.
it has really good ISO up to around 6400 and looks reasonably good even at iso 12800. Focusing is fast/competitive, video is good, 1/6000th max shutter speed, and up to 4.5 fps.
Pentax removed the weathersealing and AF overlay points from its predecessor but made out with some cool color choices (us red, blue, white, black)
The grips is unexpectedly large for an entrylevel which I really like.
DP review posted a review on it that you might want to check out.
Also look into the nikon d500, and canon T1i.
I think its a great camera but check out all options to see what works out well for you in terms of lens selection, price, and areas of performance.
