Peppermint Shrimp and Tridacna Clams

I'm on my way to adding my first clam to my tank and as I'm reading the Calfo & Fenner Reef Invertebrates book I see Lysmata shrimps (Peppermint Shrimps) listed as reef creatures likely to prey on Tridacnid clams (Pg. 242).

Just wondering what experience people here have with these shrimp and clams in their tank. Should I attempt to remove the three pep shrimps I have before adding my first clam or are they mostly okay?

Thanks for the help.

I have two peppermints in a 25g with SPS and Trid Max's and have had no problems, never even a concern. FWIT, I have seen them feed on maximas that are dead or on their way there.... just not in my tank, thank God! LOL

Thanks for the info.
It's good to hear. There's so much info out there you never know what's what until you hear people with actual experiences.
