My peppermint shrimp ate/tore apart my pink tip hatian anemone. Anyone know why they would do this? I have roughly 10 peppermint shrimp in there, but I've researched that they dont normally eat corals/anemones. They are not camelback shrimp so there is no confusiion there.

They definitely were not cleaning the anemone. I could see one of the peppermint shrimp tear apart a tentacle.

Should I get rid of the peppermint shrimp?
I'd rather have an anemone than a bunch of peppermint shrimp

Oh and I also have 2 fire shrimp, but they didnt go anywhere near the anemone.

Peppermiont eat Apstasia and Manjoes... why not a Condy?

They probably saw it and started to celebrate. Just like a XXXXXXXXXXXXXL Pizza!!

I had a pep that ate an electric torch coral. The second I put it in the tank he went to town on it. I got him out ASAP, but I was surprised as well.

Lysmata wurdermanni(peppermints ) are somewhat unpredicatable. Although generally safe, they will eat coral from time to time,in my experience, particularly if they are not getting enough food. Ten of them is alot. I would remove at least some of them.

well i had a major aptsaisia problem in my 210gallon so i through in 10, and at the time (which was not too long ago) they were probably a centimeter long each.. they grew pretty fast.. How can i remove "some" of them? I'm the worst at catching things.. right now i am in the process of trying to catch my angelfish

A trap might work. I go fihsing with a net. I put a little frozen food in the net . Place it in the tank at night and wait. The I trap it to the glass and bring it up.

I have been feeding my Pep Shrimp by hand for the last 2 or 3 weeks and now they will let me pick them up. Might be able to try that to catch them.
