peppermint shrimp died

I got 2 peppermint shrimps. One of them is dead and the other one is missing.

It's a relative new tank. Been running for 3 weeks and cycled.
I have a 120G DT with a sump.
40lb of live rocks, 60lb of base rocks, and 60lb of dry sand.
1 hermit crab.

I drip-acclimated them then released to display tank. I forgot how long it was but I did like 1 part LFS water with 6 part my DT water. Then, I got as much water out as possible and put the cup inside DT to release them.

There was a incident. The dead peppermint shrimp got sucked up to the power head but he managed to escape but got blew away but the current. Then he laid on the sand bed right side up.... that was the last time I saw him alive. He was dead at the same spot :(

Any idea why he's dead?

here is my parameters the day I put them in.
Salinity: 1.026
Free Ammonia, Total Ammonia, Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0.2
pH: 8.15
Alkalinity: 9.8 dKH

thanks

I agree, it usually takes 3-4 months for a tank to be cycled to add shrimp. Though I added emerald crabs and other crabs at 1 1/2 -2 months. Just wait a while, 3 weeks definitely isn't enough for a full cycle.

I thought once I have 0 reading for Ammonia & Nitrite, the tank is cycled. I have a hermit crab doing well in there.

All my live rocks are fully cured (local pickup). Shouldn't that shorten the cycle time?

Anyway, I'll wait for a little bit longer before I put another shrimp in.

any sign to look for acclaimate too quick? do they die right away or slowly?

Is it ok to add snails? I just pasted brown algae stage and in a green algae stage. I want to control it before it's out of hand.

I also have aptastia issue. Anything else can control it other than peppermint?
