PEPPIE's ODD-BALL BUILD

Another great Sunday night reading. Great DIY skills and lovely build, all we waiting for some water and live stock. Keep the good work and look forward to see the rest.

Thanks tahiriqbal,
There is still quite a bit of work left to do on the case work.
It is taking a bit longer than I thought it would. So far I and my wife are pleased with the look and quality of the build

The quality of workmanship is astounding! Your attention to every small detail really shows, and the skillset you have is really paying off. I'll be subbing this thread - I can't wait to see this thing come to fruition.

I started the stand face lift with the door panels. I will glue some Narra veneer to 1/4'' plywood. The figure of the Narra matches the figure of the Mahogany, I will stain the panels to match the color of the Mahogany.

To get an invisible seam I put two of the veneer pieces between two pieces of plywood (with a straight edge) and leet them hang out past the plywood about 1/64'' and clamp the sandwich to the bench and sand the veneer to to edge of the plywood

I tape the two sheets together on the back side with blue tape
110_3081.jpg

Flip it over and use veneer tape on the face side the blue tape will be removed before I glue the veneer to the plywood
110_3080.jpg

I got every thing set up to glue the panels up. I need to work fast, The veneer will start to distort once the glue is layed on.

I will let the panels stay under clamp pressure over nite

Lets take a break from all this woodworking and give you a sneak peek of what is inside the tank.
Here are a couple of picks of the platforms in place.

I got the side panel of the stand face frame done It needs a finish yet but the assembly is complete

Again still needs oiled and a top coat.

The doors and face frame ( front ) are next.
Exploded view of the jointery. I made the center stile the same over all width of the outside stiles. I like the looks of it better that way.

The doors will overlap in the center. If I ever go to a sump it wll block the light

every thing looks tight

OK here we go. I know a few of you have been following this Odd build.
I finally finished it up last week.
The tank itself has been running for about 2 mos. But the woodworking lagged behind cause I got called back to work.
Here are a few shots of the inside of the tank. (sorry photography is not one of my strong points)

Thats it!!!!
I do although have an idea brewing in my head for another Odd-Ball build!!!

Thats amazing wood work there, many hours of intense labor lol but seriously this is really nice i love the unique look and how well it goes all together

not your typical build

Thanks matiLanza,
I am not one to do as the masses have.
I have said in the past " If I am going to take the time, I am going to make it mine"
I am pleased with the out come. Some small changes on the inside of the tank have taken place, but that is expected .

I have to say this has been an awesome read....VERY WELL DONE...w/ that said w/ all your planning and fore thought I was disappointed to see the light seep (I remembered you saying the tank and stand were going to extend beyond the wall so I'm not knocking that)

Again this was an AWESOME built from start to finish...

Thanks guys.

Shu13, That is one of the small items that needs to be dealt with. ( I cant see it from where I sit) But my wife can see it when she does the laundry. lol

Any idea how many hours were put into the wood working portion of this project? I just read the entire build thread and I'm extremely impressed with the results. Bravo!
