Open house had a nice turn out. No one commented on the lab in the basement according to reports. Perhaps the sign did diffuse it????

time for a new realtor?

We never got that suggestion when we sold our last house and I had a similar "mess" in the basement.

It makes sense to display that message imo; not that I'm a Realtor. My girl and I go through homes for fun and we always notice people seemingly turned off by a house simply because of paint color. If that's a deciding factor for some people, then that lab would probably make that same group run away screaming...

Capt_Cully, good look moving all of that equipment

Yeah, don't get me started. I'm excited at the prospect of getting a new home. The one we want is pristine, HOWEVER, it hasn't changed a bit since it was new in 1985. Gold sparkle formica counter tops, wood panelling and all.

Gotta look at the "bones" of a house. I could care less what color anything is. Painting is easy. If the layout apeals to you, it's better if it's hideous. Low-Ball fest!

I know how that goes. Our home was built in 1904, so far every renovation project we've had has led to some pleasant surprises and some not so pleasant ones. The old hideous homes are the best though.

if you have a controller hide it.We had a webcam in the house and we would check it after someone would look at it.one time we came home and my hardwood floors where wet and the tanks water was 10g low looked at the computer and saw a little girl looking at the tank while parents looked at the house.the girl played with the controller messing all the times pushed the hob skimmer cup all the way down opened the doors and pulled the hose on the phosban reactor out of the sump (thats where the water came from) and turned the plug strip that had the heater on it off.

Forget about the reef mess-what about that baby-now thats something that could probably use a warning sign!

I have to agree get a new one that makes no sense at all. the tanks and tank upstairs should give it away. My family has been doing real estate for 25 years and never done this.

lol...i am going to be looking for a house within the next 2 months

i would love that sign...except for the "mess" part....more like slice of heaven

In defense of the realtor, I voiced my concern with what many non reefers might consider an eyesore, or crystal meth lab. She said "Just have fun with it. Put up a sign that says excuse the mess, it's my hobby."

As I said, none of the lookie-loos made mention of it. But then again, none of them busted out their check books either.

God this process is excrutiating. In the end, all houses sell, but WHEN and at what price???

P.S. Realtor also told me I might wanna take down my deer head, it might offend. That's a whole nother story. The mount stayed! My sister asked random people, none found it bothersome. I think a lot of that has to do with our local population. Many hunters and families with hunters around town.

But I will say this, the taxidermist did a great job. Maybe too good. A few nights have gone by where after a few beers, I'm making my evening "turn off the lights" rounds and I'd swear he's gonna break thru the wall and maul me.....:fun5::fun5::fun5:

Good luck. It is a tough market. OUr house went on in Labor Day, and if all goes well, will go to closing on 3/31. I have a friend who sold her house in a week.

One never knows. But, we've had 4 offers fall through over very minor details (changed mind, had a contractor come in and decide estimate to redo kitchen was too much, found out they didn't have as much money as they claimed etc)
