perc/occ - confusion

hi there! im in a confused situation - one of my clowns died and i need to find a mate.

my clown is a b&w one, but the online dealers and my lfs tell me different things about what species this is.

so my female died and i tried to get a fellow. my LFS carries black clowns, onyx clowns, regular orange percs and occellaris.

i really would like to get an onyx one to pair up, but will that match, i.e. are the onyx ones the same species as the black ones? or are there perc and occellaris onyx? please help me out

Your clowns are black amphiprion ocellaris. An onyx is a variant of amphiprion percula with lots of black. People have successfully kept, mated, and raised young from ocellaris X percula hybrids.

if you try and mix clowns just be carefull most clowns will fight when mixed
