Percs acting different

I have a pair of percs and the female has grown to about double the males size.. I have seen a lot of sand moved but never saw who was doing it. Last night I saw the female Perc digging in the sand. I have seen clowns clean rock in preperation of egg laying but never saw sand excavation. Is this normal? Could she be looking for food?

I have a 4 stripe damsel that has been spitting sand recently too.

I have seen the clowns fan the sand bed fairly strongly with their tails and it kicks up a bunch of mess. It is pretty common. It can become a problem in some cases.

my female tomato is doing this - she's single though. It's obnoxious, but not harmful yet.
