Percs hosting with Non natural Anemones??

Who has perculas (especially Onyx) witha non natural host...
I placed a GBTA in with mine and the clown has A. no interest in it B. Im not completly sure the clown even has a clue what an anemone is.....

one of my local LFS has a Saddle anemone (Stichodactyla haddoni) Do you think my Onyx would be more likely to take interest in this more so than the bubble?

Do any of you have onyx with a non natural host???

depends on the fish.. i have a perc that shows no interest in the GBTA and the RBTA i have but hosts my duncans. When i first put him in the tank he showed no interest in my nems, only the duncans and my elegance. Fortunately he chose to host the duncans, he would have gotten re-homed had he decided to try and host my elegance..
 
My pair has been hosted by both an LTA (( M. doreensis )), which took "away" their black, they are now hosted by an S. Haddoni, which has return about 66% of their black.

My picasso's were once hosted by BTA's, but when they started losing black color I removed BTA's.
Since then black has come back.
Many have had same exp.
But my guess is they will most likely find it and accept it, just a matter of time.
 
You know, for what should be a pretty common/average nem, you have no idea what it took to actually aquire the one I now have, took at least 6 mo to find one, or at least find one not seconds after someone else purchased it, but so far so good.
I should also state that the black actually came back upon removal of the BTA's, months before I even intro'd the malu, and it took about 3-4 mo before my pics found or showed any interest in that malu.
 
Though natural host matches are usually preferred, I think most any clown will accept about any host nem over time.
In fact frogspawn or similar is just fine for many, and much easier.
But keep in mind some nems are harder to keep than others, and they all have different needs for light flow, so your tank would have to acommidate that.
BTA's seem more forgiving, can deal w/ lower light.
 
I have a 250W MH so lighting is a concern.....If the clown does finally decide the anemone to be a home is there a good chance that she will loose her black....or is that a minor chance??? Sorry for all the questions....just trying to figure out whats best
 
Honestly, even though I saw exp peeps post the black loss thing, I didn't actually believe it till it happened to me.
I'm sure there are people that don't have the same results, and some people don't even care about heavy black color, so...
You can never say for sure w/ nature.
Now I will say carpets/saddle's are more challenging to keep healthy.
 
interesting....it seems that there is no clear "correct" choice....I absolutly LOVE the color of my Onyx now....Id hate to see that go away....But Id also hate to loose her because her anemone died.....For now at least she seems quite content on her Eshopps Hang on skimmer sponge
 
Mine are hosted by a anemone I can't find a Id for.
