Percula Clown Gender Question

Tonight I purchased a single percula clown. The tank had two fish together and I bought the one that was largest so I assume this was the male that was gonna be female. Since I purchased it will it continue to change female or stay male? When I add a second clownfish with they fix the gender issue and become a male/female pair? Thank you Brian.

They can change from male to female, but not female to male. If you bought the larger of a pair it's likely female.

Its in a butter bowl acclimating right as we speak, for size comparison.

Still a juvi, probably around 4 to 5 months old depending on growout conditions. If he stays alone, it will eventually turn into a female. That being said, a friend of mine had a clown in his tank for about about a year, he was a good 2 inches in length. He had to move to another state and gave me his clown. I put it in a tank with another clown that I had for about 5 years, and 2 years later they were spawining and he was the male. So I can't really say when they turn, but I know it is not within it's first year of life or so for sure.

That helps clear it up and thank you.
