Percula clown question?

Hey guys,

We've had our first 2 fish(the clowns) in our 65G for a week now.

we're wondering why they mostly swim on the top half of the tank, and never go near the live rock, by near we mean through the caves and such, do they just need time to get used to everything???

Aslo how much should we be feeding them? We were feeding them once a day but now we started 2 small feedings a day?

What do u guys do?

My clowns go everywhere, but swim mostly in the middle towards the top. They usually stay in the open and dont hide in the rockwork or anything. I feed my fish 3 times a day, twice with spectrum pellets and once with spirlina brine/mysis shrimp.

3 times day? the guy at the LFS told us 1 every other day haha

how much do u feed each time? as much as they can eat ?

my clowns rarely cruise the rock. I wouldn't hope to much for their current behavior to change. It seems that everyone feeds their fish on different schedules and the fish become accustomed to it. Once a day for my crew.

when i first got my clowns they refused to eat because they were grazing on the hair algae...now i feed them twice a day and they love it. They usually swim all over my tank and they really love it when i open the valve on my return and send waves all over the tank

I got 2 onyx clowns a few weeks ago from a local breeder, Rod. Excellent guy out in DeKalb, IL selling Rod's food, btw. Not associated, but I recommend his food.

I break off about a pinky sized finger nail chunk of his food once a day for them. Seems to be keeping them happy.

And they do stay above my rock. They are reef fish. I plan on getting them a rose bubble tip sometime :D

Yeah my 2 clowns go no where near the rocks or caves they stay in 1 spot and only during feeding time do they scurry about all over the place.
