Hi, I`m new in this site.I live in Argentina, have a 125 well stablished reef tank, but have a big problem with the Myrionema Hidroid. It is colonizing the entire tank, and is beginning to irritate any of the corals and clams that come in contact with it.
I need help in finding any way to erradicate this plague.
Is there any fish or invertebrate that will eat them?
Is there any way to control them?
PD: sorry about my english.
I Hope you can help me.

Sorry, the right name is Myrionema Hydroid and it`s a very invasive colonial hydroid. Kalk paste would work, but I was thinking in any natural control method. Ex: Fishes, sea slugs, or anything proved by anyone, than mechanical remove. thanks.

Yeah, I got a lot of the recomended creatures for the reef cleanning, but none touch on this hydroid. Now I´m tryng with a litle blue ringed angelfish (navarchus) It`s two weeks living in the tank, but still nothing.

Using a kalk paste(or pickling lime) is about the only other way I know. I usually try to pull some with forceps and then turn off my waterflow and make a fairly thick paste to cover them. Let it set a minute or two and turn back on my waterflow.

They spread and grow quickly with higher nutrients. More skimming, a little less feeding, and a little better tank maintenance will help keep them at bay. It probably won't eliminate them but it will certainly help.
