PET PEEVES....list them here

when noobies ask for your advice, then they ask for your help when they do the exact opposite of what you said.
for instance i say. "dont buy any bleached or unheathy looking corals." a few days later i get a call. " so i bought these corals and they dont look all that good how do i nurse them back to health." duuuuuu

When someone else in the house sprays windex or dusting polish around the tank to clean other furniture in the room. I have to constantly explain that if any of that crap makes it into the tank and crashes it, everyone better leave the house and not return for awhile because it wont be pretty.

Little over bearing? I really don't think that these chemicals effect your tank, unless you literally dump them in the tank. I. Clean my glass with windex, no ill effects.

My biggest pet peeve is people that litter. I HATE littering. When I take my kids for a walk (once in the morning and once in the evening after dinner) we each have to pick up 1 piece of trash. In the grand scheme of things I'm sure it makes no difference, but it at least teaches them to make an effort to clean up...and to not add to the mess themselves. (they are 3 and 1 and yes we keep hand sanitizer in the stroller lol)

Reef related as I'm sure you all already guessd, my biggest pet peeve is TANGS IN LITTLE TANKS! Even after advised against it...oh so and so has an achilles and a powder blue in a 45 corner, it will be fine. ANNOYING!!

When people give their expert opinion when they have no experience with it, and their opinion is based on another thread from RC where someone else gave their expert opinion based on another thread they read where someone else gave their expert opinion, etc.

One more
" what kind of plant is that"

"They're not plants they're corals"

"Oh ok, so what kind of plant is that one over there?"

"Uhg, an acro plant"

Posting 10+ different threads with the same question!

People who don't do ANY research before buying and then come here and say "I just.... now what do I do?.."

I have seen several tanks crash based on spray potpourri and windex over the years.

People that hang around threads but post nothing but negative comments hoping someone will reply to keem them busy for the next hour.

When my little girl's friends come over (there all 5) run up to the tank and put there hands on it, pushing a little. WHY? Then take turns with the mag float.:mad2:

Ditto! I hid all of the sprays and bought wipes for every purpose...problem solved..tee hee
the back of my DT is wide open and faces the counter in the kitchen therefore my sump is totally exposed to drifting stuff :0-(

and GHA, ugh

Reading thread after thread for weeks, trying to make intelligent decisions based on everyone's experience here, making a purchase and then reading the new threads trashing what I just bought.

Exactly. I see so many posters that have been in the hobby for 3 months, make comments on how to do/care for something with zero experience for themselves. Its a community and feedback is welcomed from everyone, but if you don't have direct experience with doing something don't tell someone how to do it. I've seen so much mis information lately and I just shake my head. Posts like "If you're going to keep SPS, you'd better not buy T5's. You have to have metal halides."..........sigh

Ok, rant off :D

Peeves:
Dirty glass (inside or out)
People messing with my magfloat (rimless tank and it almost always splashes water down the front of my tank)
And my biggest, people I don't know putting their hands in my tank without asking first. Why would someone do that....

Posts like this annoy me: "I have this thing on my rock. It's green with these little green spots on it. What is it?" Take a picture already!

Which leads me to: Blurry pictures and a post that says "What is this?" If you can afford to build and keep a 300 gallon reef tank, you can afford a $100 digital camera, and buy a tripod while you're at it.

When people call the clownfish the host instead of the anemone. Or when they write, "hosted with" (e.g.: My clown hosted with my anemone) which makes no sense. Or when someone corrects this misuse in a previous post yet every post thereafter makes the same mistake.

People using my magnet algae scraper and then moving it too fast so it falls off into the tank and I have to reach my arm in and get it.

My pet peeve is, people post why are my fish having issues, and everyone says the tank is too small, and everyone automatically says your the tang police or something stupid like that, and don't want to hear the correct answer. I believe this one was already said, but it is one of the most annoying things on this sight.

I'll probably catch some flak for this, but I have to get it off my chest. This whole LE coral thing - especially zoanthids. Thanks, but I'm not interested in your "Zeus' purple fire armor piercing sword of moses" color morph for $95 a head.
