PET PEEVES....list them here

If this thread is to stay open, let's keep it reef related. Or maybe I'll move it to the lounge.

People who frag the crap out of their tank only because they want to use it as a source of income and only sell 1/2" frags of crappy corals...let it grow damnit.

And i almost passed out from laughing after i read this "Zeus' purple fire armor piercing sword of moses color morph".

People that actually think sellers of nice frags are "in it for the money" *LOL* Apparently they failed 1st grade math.

Hmmm lets see, calculate the equipment cost, maintenance-equipment replacement, price of the corals & cost over time to grow them out, electricity cost....... yep, not making any money anytime soon *LOL* Some of us just grow coral and sell it because we want coral to come from tanks, not the ocean, not because we are mini evil empires set out to make millions on growing rocks.

When someone puts on a uniform, or takes an "office" of some sort, they lose touch with reality and their life contribution. . . . . read the books on it, but sad to see it in action!!

Hmmm, I made it past 1st grade math. And college economics, too. I have seen some coral frags go for above $2000. $2500 to be exact. There is no way you can not make huge money on that. No way. *LOL*

I guess I have another pet peeve.

I was not talking about ridiculously overpriced frag selling or the latest fad frag selling "double *LOL*" That would also be a peeve of mine, insanely overpriced frag sellers.

In that situation, yes, one could easily make money if they find someone that is crazy enough to pay a ridiculous price for frags that will be $20-$40 frags in a year or two. Yet it happens all of the time.

Just get sick of hearing "that guy or that girl is just in it for the money" when they are selling off $20 frags of whatever. Happens all the time with our local group. That is my pet peeve, sticking to it math man :D

I can agree with that. But being from Orlando, there are some shilling folk around here for one of the local stores.

I'll call you on that. Considering the lengths that the majority of sellers go to get back into selling, someone's making money. Even on cheaper frags.

So here's my pet peeve.
"I'm just trying to help other reefers out"

My pet peeve is when someone posts a thread looking for an id of a crab or worm or something and they get five immediate responses saying "Kill it!!!!," usually accompanied by an ID that's wrong.

My pet peeve as well. Every seller who rockets to 50 posts, and at day 91 makes a camp in the selling forums, even after months of selling several times a week and rarely (if ever) posting in any of the site's "content" areas, angrily tells us that we:

A) are picking on them,

B) by enforcing our pretty straightforward and generally well-known commercial rules we have gotten so big that we have forgotten about the little guys (our no-nonsense rules are one of the main reasons our site has gotten where it is today), and finally

C) the people whose selling privileges have been rescinded are all true altruists, just trying to offer fellow reefers a good deal (even if they are buying corals and chopping them into tiny pieces as soon as they can, or routinely cruising garage sales and Craigslist looking specifically for things to sell here).

But I'm not commercial! I haven't made any profit (once you factor in all the costs)!

Yeah, but you are EXACTLY the reason we have the rules we have. Once you start looking at corals and equipment for their resale value on RC, you're not here for the right reason anymore. You're using RC's resources to reach customers, and not supporting RC's actual mission (the exchange of reef-related information). Sell your goods on Craigslist - it's what they're designed for.

So yeah, I have a pet peeve! :D

To finally get rid of the brown flat worms only to get a hair algae outbreak. Then get rid of that mess only to have a calurpa outbreak and nuking the whole tank.....
