Petco 20G Long AIO build

I asked Wills612 where he got his 20G Long AIO build from and he directed me to Badfish reef systems online, after further research online, I have read he is no longer in business. So I decided to take measurements and do it myself. And also do a tutorial if someone else wants to build one. Makes a great mini peninsula or frag tank.

Things needed...
20G Long from Petco $20
Acrylic cuts from Tap Plastics $28, measurements and details below.
Dap Silicone aquarium safe $3.99
Super Gel Glue $3.99

Silicone and Super Glue
<a href="http://s576.photobucket.com/user/booman_13/media/20G%20Long%20AIO%20Build/IMG_4979.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/ss202/booman_13/20G%20Long%20AIO%20Build/IMG_4979.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_4979.jpg"/></a>

Use a straight edge ruler to align the baffles and initially use the super glue to lay in place, will be a lot easier when you apply the silicone so they wont move around

<a href="http://s576.photobucket.com/user/booman_13/media/20G%20Long%20AIO%20Build/IMG_4984.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/ss202/booman_13/20G%20Long%20AIO%20Build/IMG_4984.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_4984.jpg"/></a>

Once the super glue is dried, apply the silicone

Will be interesting to see how well that silicone works on acrylic. I have always had issues using silicone on acrylic. Nice start Robert. Very nice..

As you can see its not flush, you would need to cut notches in the silicone already in the aquarium to allow it to sit flush
<a href="http://s576.photobucket.com/user/booman_13/media/20G%20Long%20AIO%20Build/IMG_4987.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/ss202/booman_13/20G%20Long%20AIO%20Build/IMG_4987.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_4987.jpg"/></a>

<a href="http://s576.photobucket.com/user/booman_13/media/20G%20Long%20AIO%20Build/IMG_4991.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/ss202/booman_13/20G%20Long%20AIO%20Build/IMG_4991.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_4991.jpg"/></a>

Apply Silicone on all edges touching the tank before placing, just a thin coat
<a href="http://s576.photobucket.com/user/booman_13/media/20G%20Long%20AIO%20Build/IMG_4992.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/ss202/booman_13/20G%20Long%20AIO%20Build/IMG_4992.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_4992.jpg"/></a>

Also apply silicone in the notches you made
<a href="http://s576.photobucket.com/user/booman_13/media/20G%20Long%20AIO%20Build/IMG_4993.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/ss202/booman_13/20G%20Long%20AIO%20Build/IMG_4993.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_4993.jpg"/></a>

You need to insert in, in a angle and place it in, after you achieve this apply some weight and let it dry, before you apply more silicone and finish.

Here is the cover panel, just super glued it and it slides in place

<a href="http://s576.photobucket.com/user/booman_13/media/20G%20Long%20AIO%20Build/IMG_4996.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/ss202/booman_13/20G%20Long%20AIO%20Build/IMG_4996.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_4996.jpg"/></a>

All finish!

Thanks to Adrian Castillo for cutting the teeth and 3/4" hole.
for less then $60, this is great project and will make a nice nano or frag tank. Total volume of the Tank is 15.5 G and the filteration is 4.5 G.
Total project time. 3 hours

Looks good bro. Its a sweet little setup. I run chaeto in the first section, lit with underwater halogen pond lights.

Looks good! Wish my silicon job was that nice on my sump. I took advantage of petco's sale too and picked up a 40 breeder.

Operation and Leak Test, so far so good!
