Pete

Your alive LOL!!!

Any corals in the tank yet?

Post some pics with that new camera of yours!!!

I finally got my 6 48 inch T5's over my 125 frag tank and they look awesome!!!

Alive, barely.

Just added a cap to the tank to see how it fares... tester coral.

Working on downloading some pictures right now. Trying adobe lightroom 2, and it's taking a little to figure out.

I spent yesterday getting ready for Darcy's birthday party. So, I did a little bit of cleaning and the tank turned out alright. I'm gearing up to start moving stuff over in the next few weeks.

I had planned to spend part of the day working on my tank, but instead spent the entire day working on David's new tank. Oh well, that's what friends are for.

And, Darcy's little friend:

Yup and if you need any help with your change over im sure ill be there. I really appreciate your help bud. I cant wait to see all those pictures you took of today.

Looking good dude. Is that a chiller in the 5th picture up and is it loud in the room with it? Mine made me nuts and I ended up moving the whole filtration system out of the house.

Yup, and I don't know. It hasn't been run in the house. My 1/5hp JBJ Arctica on my 92g runs in the room about 10 feet from there and it isn't too loud.

I was helping a fellow club member with his lights yesterday, which gave me a little motivation to make some progress on the tank. I moved my ACIII from my extisting tank to the 210 last night, and deleted the program, which is no big deal, but I should have taken note of which devices were on which position on the DC8s, as when I went to hook up my AC Jr. (in place of the ACIII) I had to trace down every cord to figure out what I had and where. Oops.

Here is the AC III temporarily velco mounted on the inside of my stand door:

Then I mounted the MP40W controllers on the inside of the stand on each end facing each other looking across the stand. The Lunar sim module is also mounted with velcro:

So that was last night. This is today. I drilled out the john guest fittings for my 3 part dosing jugs, and mounted the internal line.

I got the jugs from BRS, and the stand they sit under is an old 10G sump I cut down to size and re-glued. The screw on JG fittings are from MD and I mounted them upside down to keep the metal nut on the outside of the container.

Then I got around to building an easy mounting solution for a pair of DC8s and my Vortech battery backup. Easy meaning that I can easily remove the mounting blocks and attached equipment (no screws) not easy to build or install.

The top angled unit sits on an inverse angled rail that is screwed to the wall (studs) and allows for easy movement and removal, as the weight of the unit holds it in place.

Mounting the rail, with all my plumbing in place, by myself, with my head half between the tank and the sump was not fun! Here is a shot from the back edge of the tank, seeing the DC8 in place.

And from underneath

Looking sweet bud! Whats the 3rd thing your gonna dose?

Looking great Pete! Always good to read your updates.

Very cool way of mounting things to the wall with the wood angles like that. Very smart!

I'm going to guess the third thing to dose is... Magnesium :)

Best,

Yup, granted I won't need near the quantity, but I'd like to keep it up, rather than dose a whol ebunch once a week or so.

Well I figured as much too, but, Magnesium has to be stirred or it falls out of solustion. Least thats what i've read. Thats why i'm not dosing it with my third pump. If it doesnt seem to be a problem for you maybe ill throw my 3rd pump in and dose it too lol.

No, it does fall out of suspension, you're right. I may just have to manually dose once a week or so, shake the container and set the LM3 to dose over the course of a few hours. Probably more work than it is worth, but damn it, I bought three containers!

lol I feel ya I have 3 pumps (including the head unit) and dont know what to use the third for. So im justing using the 2 satalites so I can feel like every piece of equipment is being used.

It's looking good Pete....Sorry to hear about the casualties of the fish from LA :(

Thanks... It sucked, but I'll live and learn.

The tank is going through a diatom bloom, so I'm cutting the lighting back a little, and I dosed some vodka on Saturday (too much and got a biostorm going).

The single piece of Monitpora Cap. is doing just fine, ven with Nitrate of 10ppm and a really high phosphate level (measured at 1.0 with the ELOS kit). I haven't re-tested yet with the D-D kit I have borrowed from the club, but I did get my GFO reactor up and running last night.

I also had a bit of a heater snafu, and the tank was about 72 degrees this morning. The clowns were looking a bit COLD, so I'm hoping that they pull through okay. I need to get the good thermoeter back from Sam to calibrate the new temp probe on the AC III.

I'm planning on a good size water change tonight, and then I'll retest the Phosphate levels.

Well, something tells me the corner tank isn't going to be broken down by Thanksgiving as I promised Darcy... Which means that the fire place (our primary heat source) is still not able to be used. It is starting to get a little cold outside, so I'm going to make a big push this week and weekend to make some progress.

I did get a reading with the PAR meter last night at the surface of the water under only 4 T5s (780). I've not measured lower in the tank yet, but I think it should still be well above 200 at the sand, so I don't think I can complain too much. Especially since I'll be running 8 T5s on each side.

I'm going to be picking up the club's super scientific thermometer today, so I can dial-in my AC III temp probe. BTW, if you're still using a $12 thermometer from the LFS, trow it away and got buy a real thermometer. I've found almost 2 degree differences between the good unit and the crap that you can buy locally. I was really suprised.

I'll be remeasuring the phophate tonight and doing another water change, and then adding some zoas to the rockwork tonight, as the montipora cap. I added still is doing well with great polyp extension.

You're gonna be sooo happy when you finally make that big push into the 210 and break down that corner tank... Going from 3 tanks to 2 at our house made a big difference in the maintenance level and general marital relationship.
