Pete's 210 build

Pete, is there a specific photo of your manifold? I'm very interested in doing something similar...and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

cool tank!!

Thanks, welcome to reefcentral!

I spent my day at the MARS winter frag swap and came home with a few new things. Hopefully all will work out nicely and they'll be in the display tank in a week or two.

Here is the list, pictures to follow at some point:

Baby blue porite (unknown donor)
Larry Jackson tri-color acro (mircles38)
Eddie Hanson Wild Gomezi (bipolarbear)
Eddie Hanson Raspberry Purple tipped mille (bipolarbear)
Blue tip tenuis (mr. ugly)
Meteor shower cyphastrea (Chris Cassidy)

Thanks all for the corals. It is always a good time to clear out 30+ frags from the frag tank and come home with a lot less, but new things! I should be good on room in the frag tank for another 6 months or so.

The corals are sitting in an interceptor bath at the moment, and re-acclimating to the temperature of tank water, after spending 8 hours or so cooling off.

Also, a big thanks to all the MARS folks that worked the event, the members that came and the northern California reef clubs that also showed up.

Pete, everything is coming together very well. So YOU were the one that took the Wild Gomezi huh? I was going to grab that one in the 3rd round, but it looks like you beat me to it! It looks like you picked up some nice things. I can't wait for this bad boy to be fully setup. NICE WORK!!!

Just do it already! LOL. NP bud thanks for the help with my mess. Glad to see Vlade is all moved in. If you need any help with your move LMK. But if you insist on moving one coral over a day. I dont think I have that much free time. Cant wait to see this beast stocked!

David, come by tomorrow, I've got 61 species in the tank already, about 50 more in the frag tank, and who knows how many left in the 92g. The left side is pretty well full, until I start gluing things down, and I'm not committed on placement yet.

Good Stuff Pete. It was good chatting a bit at the swap. The tank is coming along nicely.

December 7, 2008 - Maintenance

The demand for 2 part has still been pretty low, as I did my battery of testing again today, and found these results:

Alk: 9dKH
Cal: 430ppm
Mg: ~ 1100ppm
N03: ~ 10ppm
P04: ~ .05ppm

All kits are ELOS, so I'll have to compare the P04 results to the DD kit I used last time.

It has been 8 days since I tested last, and I've been conservatively dosing 2 part, so now that I have some more data, I can start the LMIII regimen.

My Alk dropped by 1 dKH with the slight dosing, I was doing manually, while the calcium level dropped by 30ppm and the Mag dropped by about 50ppm.

I calculated the quantity of 2 part required to maintain the level, including what I already dosed and came up with a daily requirement of 20ml of Alk and 99ml of calcium supplement. This seems odd, as I would have expected the two values to be a little closer together. I think I'll start dosing about 50ml of each daily and see if the Alk rises and the Calcium drops, and then adjust from there.

I raising the levels to 11/460/1300 before I start the daily dosing, so we have a stable basline to compare against for future measurements, which I'll do about every 3 days.

It was good to see you too. I'm sorry I didn't have more time to talk. I told everyone I wasn't going to work this one, after the last one, and well...

Your and Jeremy's suggestions we heard by the committee and meat with much agreement. I think the next one will be tweaked more to allow those that bring a few nice pieces to be able to grab at least one something off their list (unless it's you, who has 160 how many pieces? that are all top notch)...

Oh, and I forgot, I stopped by Paradise Aquarium on the way home from the swap and picked up four purple fire fish, all now in QT. The wife loves me again!

Aren't those PM media reactors the best. I have to get some for my set up as well.

Yeah, I like them. I got a good deal on both, and they clean out nicely. Putting them on the manifold has made bleeding the "dust" out of the carbon and GFO really easy. I just take the output tube and put it in a milk jug and turn the valve on, when the water runs clear, I move it back to the sump.

Mike and I placed the largest one and the smallest one on a customers tank and were simply amazed with the craftsmanship and ease of use that we couldn't stop raving about them.

December 14, 2008 - The day the tank came down

All good things must come to an end, and such is the story for my 92g corner tank. Today was the day. Not much planning, just a call to a friend (thanks David) and we took it down over the course of the day.
