beutiful frags! when did you get them? (i hope im not one of thoes people who miss the asked information 2 posts ago :D)

yeah, at radio shack they have a selection of thoes transformers, all with different power settings. im pretty sure i recall on ranging from around 1.5v to 12v with 5 selection in between.

so are you still planning the breakdown to treat for the flat worms?

Picked up the frags last night from makoj - I see I was in your neck of the woods

as for the flatworms - I'll keep blasting them everyday, so far I have only seen one in over a week. I think the iodine soak worked and I'll do this weekly for at least a couple more weeks. What this amounted too was mixing up a coral dip strength+ 50% solution, turn off all pumps and let the current go completely stagnate . Then slowly administer the solution on and around the infected corals. I let this sit for a few minutes then turned on hte pumps. The total amount of Logals introduced into the system is below what I could dose the tank with, so there should not be any negative effects unless a hermit crab or fish strayed into the coral being treated

I still plan on adding 2 or 3 wrasse to help. I'll just keep doing this routine and keeping an eye out. If I see a bloom or two that may be okay but if they get into a progressive growth mode, then I'll break it down and do a complete acro treatment. The problem will be getting all to the acros as several are encrustations on huge pieces of rock that will require breaking up my plate corals to remove

Great tank! I use that adjustable transformer that you all are talking about. From radio shack, ask for their variable voltage adaptor. Works great, and let's you dial down the noise when fans speed isn't as crucial!

Pete, you can get the power supply you want at Fry's Electronics. The prices range from 5.99 to about $17.99 if I recall correctly. The 5.99 won't be easy to find, but it should do it.

What you need to know is how many mA you need total to run those fans. 1.5 amps should be 1500 mA, right?

Right on target Marc, 1000 mA = 1 Amp.

Very nice frags Pete! Makoj's tank in person would be a sight to see, well a lot of tanks on here would be also.

mdcorcoran thanks - and I agree the two must be very closely related the structure, shapes etc are almost identical. just some coloration differences. I had a time picking one over the other so I got both :)

drjuice28 thanks for the complement and info. How's the 210g coming. Do you have a build log?

melev hey good idea on Fry's, there is one on my way home. Only thing is; I'm afraid I'd buy more then the xfmr's (must resist all other temptations). Can't wait to see your Atlanta trip pictures

PaPa_Johnny thanks Johnny, love that avitar, and did you ever get the 90g going (I see posted in your sig)?

When I go to Fry's, I'm on a mission. I get what I need, and nothing more. I don't mind browsing to see what is there, but I resist the urge because I probably don't need it anyway. ;)

Awesome shots pete.

thanks

I picked up 3 of these today from Frys'

I tested them and they work perfect, adjustable speed and all. I'll be installing one for the sump area for ventallation with 3 or 4 fans. another for sump cooling with 2 fans, and the third with probably 4 fans will be installed on the MH rack for cooling.

Check this out.

I've been running just my 250w 12k reflux without my 400w 10k refux being on for two weeks now letting the corals get light acclimated to the new reflectors. I was running my 400s for 20 minutes today as part of a slow light acclimation process and decide to take a couple top downs with and with them being on.

Here is one of my prostratas without them (just the 250w 12ks)

And here’s a picture with the 400’s and the 250’s on. I was a bit surprised at just how much color difference there is.

holy cow the 10k is really improving your spectrum

of possible interest for seeing the spectrums is this $30 project star spectrometer:

http://www.starlab.com/psprod.html I just ordered one as all reviews say they do a great job for what they are.

(its just about halfway down the page)

What did they cost Pete? They seem to be nice and small.

9.99 each they have one of those flip out plugs in back and came with a bunch of plugs that I won't be using. I'l hard wire them with disconnects near each fan. The fans up by the lights will come on with the first lights. The ones over the sump may be on all the time or I may temp control them. The ventallation fans will probably just be on/off

I'll try and mount them so I can easily get to them, I'm kinda thinking up where I want to mount stuff with my electrical redo. I'm going to install a bunch of outlet boxes that will have some switched by a DJ and some by the Rk2

thanks - I was thinking about changing them to 12ks, but may have to run with these a while and see what new colors pop up on the corals

Man your old lights are so crappy compared to the new ones. I like your tank's look very much good job and keep us updated with more pics :)

BTW, any pics of your current filtration system?

Nice documentation of the color difference.

No it's still dry, hopefully will be cranking up in next few weeks.

thanks - and hope to see some pics of yours getting set up soon

thanks - I guess, but your right, compared to the new set up I did have a pretty sorry light set up

I plan on doing some work on the underside of the tank tommorow. I'll grab some pictures of my progress. My main goals this weekend include; a water change, get a start on my electrical cleanup, fans, new SQWD, and I need to get several corals repositioned in the tank.

Installed the new SQWD today. I'll let the glue dry overnight, flush it out and run it tommorow.

I did run into a snag with fitting it into place. I had to trim a couple fittings to get things to work.

here is a picture of where I trimmed the Union and a worms eye view of the new install.
