Yes the pumps were off for about 5 minutes before I took the pictures to let micro bubbles float out and to keep the fish from being knocked around like they usually do when they swim in front of the flow eductors. With the pumps off and me hanging around the tank, they thought it was time to eat (again). :lol:

I just shoot some kalk paste and joes juice on mine a couple weeks ago, and i just cant get rid of them. I am going to see if anything will eat the peppermint shrimp I just bought. I f they survive i think I will get like 10 or 15 total. I tried a copperband but it died when my town lost power due to fires. I might give 1 a try again. have you ever tried copper band?

I tried the peps but I think they get captured and eaten by the coral banded shrimp and lobster. I thought about a copper band butterfly and the false facula (think that's the one), but was avoiding them due to the clams. But, since my clams are now covered, I may rethink that logic, especially if the Mojano's get on a growth spurt again.

A while back I cut way back on cyclopeze, phytoplanton and other small foods in hopes to improve water clarity. Not that it was bad to start. But, what happened was a mass die off of Zoe's, and pod's. My Ric's seem unaffected. The Mojano's slowed down there population growth as did my frogspawns. I use to feed cyclopseze everyday and phyto twice a week, then I cut back both to once a week. Now I'm starting to add back in the cyclopeze but I'm seeing more Mojano's and Cynobacteria. So there is always something

I must have bumped a return eductor last night and it got pointed right at my blue tip stag. It had to of taken the flesh right off the end of a branch as I found it covered in algae today.

for a comparison of how bad some of my rocks had Mojanos

here is a picture back when I first set up my tank of a rock covered in orange zoe's and mojano's

after some persistent use of Joes Juice then kalc paste the rock became covered in the zoe's (picture credit is to somone else - but it is the same rock about 8 months later, June 07)

here is the rock today - I had a zoe predator mow over a bunch of zoes, but they look like they are coming back (not sure if it was a cowrie that died or may be my pencil urchin). I need to rid it of some Yuma's but at least it doesn't have any mojano's

youch pete, looks like that stag got blasted..... are you going to break off the dead tips, or can the coral regrow there if the algae is kept away?

btw i've had a similar mishap the other day.... bumped a tunze a little bit and it sent 3-4 frags (that I had just finished acclimating, dipping and arranging in the tank) down onto the sandbed :lol:...... no harm was done and the frags are all glued down to prevent such a future occurance!

Im kinda considering putting eductors back on my returns since I am bleeding off so much flow in the sump right now, they seem to be working well for you except when they are pointed wrong

yeah - I think I'll just cut the end off, fortunately it's only one branch.

sorry to say the lil chromis met his demise. He was fine yesterday then today we never saw him, I suspect one of the coral banded shrimp got him.

you know how corals always look so much more vibrant in top down photographs versus the side shots. I made me think to try some angled top down shots to see how much difference there was, and sure enough the colors did not have near the vibrance as the straight top downs. they were better then side shots but missing most of the florescence I see from straight top downs

my auto focus was way off, I tried for a wide focus but only one picture really came out.

playing with the photbox I decided to take a couple with it set to full width so you could get an idea of depth inside the photobox. My fish thought it was time to eat (and it was) so they were all over the place but it made for a couple clorful shots

compare the bright teal color of my chips colony in the above post to this side shot, major difference in color

the chips colony has decided to start growing wings on either side, so it's getting more a diamond shape then circular

this is about as good a picture of my PBT that I've taken with my less then stellar camera

another nice contrast in colors with a yellow tang in front of a green birds nest

Then Nemo decided to come out and show off a little - but only for a moment as he had to go back to his younguns

but the real showoff tonight was Mandy, he always has to get in the picture. I think, he was thinking the sunrise monte was trying to show off, and there was just no way he was going to let it show off instead of him.
