not much going on this week. I did try to rig up some piping to back flush my closed loop. The strainer on the inlet to the pump is under a rock and is not practical to get to. When I used the 3/4" SQWD it was easy just to hook up some tubing and back flush it, but now that I have the 1"SQWD it's hard piped.
I went to the hardware stores to get the same brand, size and schedule union in hopes to be able to disconnect the pump suction and tie in there. After getting everything built and dropping the pump I found out that the manufacture must have changed it's Union casting or something as the housing were different sizes. I knew they were different from one manufacturer to the other but I would not have guessed they would differ if they were made by the same company. ARRGG
I'm out of town all week and my electric company informed us the power would be out on Thursday, so I showed my wife how to rig up the battery powered air pumps. I just hope everything is okay and the power is not out long. Events like this just remind me I need to put some focus on power backups. I have an inverter that works fine but need something a bit more automatic in the event I'm out.
I dipped a few corals the other night, nothing bad found and tonight I decided to blast a few more with the same results, nothing bad, just a couple brittles and asterinas. One of my zoa rocks has a bad area so I may dip the entire rock next week to make sure it's not getting something bad on it.
My Red Planet is looking better, not what it use to be but at least the skin looks like it's making a comeback. I still have no idea what happened to it. Some people think it doesn't like the high light I had it in (now lower in tank) but I think something chewed on it.
I always like the looks of the milles and prostratas after they get blasted
this purple tip prostrata needs to move soon as it's burning the tips of the tort
mako mille (white ballance was on cloudy sky so color is off), it's not as blue as it looks here
