Petsmart reptile light

I was just at my local petsmart and noticed they have a canopy thing in the reptile section and it holds 2 twist in PC lightbulbs. Looks like it could nice for a fuge or something, so I thought I would let you guys know. I didn't see it on their website tho. It basically looked like the light strip you get with a fishtank, but with the screw in bulbs.

I think those light spectrums are around 2k.....so if you use if for your fuge, get ready for alot of algae growth, but let us know what you think

I didnt get one, was just pointing it out, I took off my sump recently. But when I had it going I had a regular twist in PC bulb, the one Meleve recommended on his site, on one of those cheap home depot clip on lights. This thing would allow two of those in a canopy type deal. It appeared you could put in any twist bulb you wanted.

Aren't those reptile lights mainly designed to heat? Some are supposed to generate UV-A and UV-B, but I wouldn't expect much light in the usable photosynthetic range.

He's just talking about the fixture itself.

As long as it's the proper sockets for standard bulbs, you can just put in whatever you want (up to recommended wattage of course).

So, just get the fixture, pop in some ~6000k bulbs, and use as fuge light.

Thanks Daemonfly, thats what I meant. I don't need one but was simply letting those who may need something, they might want to take a look. I had a fuge at one time and this would have worked well for it. I think it was like 20 bucks or something like that and the picture on the box had 2 pc lights pugged in.

I use one of those fixtures for my chameleon cage. It has two screw bulbs and a single fluorescent bulb. It works well, depending upon the type of bulbs you use. I have an umbrella plant and a pothos growing like crazy underneath it. It painted white on the inside as opposed to have reflectors, thats the only bad thing I can say about it.
