PFO eye ballast

Whats the deal with these ballast? Why are they so much cheaper than the other dual PFo Ballast? The only information i could find on them is that they are mercury ballast, but what does that mean and what exactaly is the diff between a mercury ballast and a magnetic ballast?

The PFO EYE ballast is for Iwasaki Clean Ace 6500K metal halide lamps. The Iwasaki Clean Ace lamps are designed to be used on a mercury vapor ballast.

One reason they are cheaper is because the ballasts used in the PFO EYE ballast have less internal parts and the ballast is smaller.

Mercury vapor ballasts have a lower starting peak voltage which makes them not compatible with metal halide lamps.

great, thanks for the quick response, i think i may go with thise ballast and 2 iwasaki 6500k's with alot of t5 supplementation

for a 40 i wouldent go with that .. you better off just going t-5 all that way .. cheeper and less heat to deal with
