I would like some input from anyone who has them or has tested them. I have a 120 gal. so I was looking at the 48", possibly the 36" if it will work.
Thanks

nifty stuff, ridiculously expensive as lighting goes. its a novelty at best right now. though functional there is no breakeven in sight for the cost.

it can be a distant savior if it makes or breaks the need for a chiller.

IMO if your looking at that, T5 is still a better alternative.

I cant really see a 36" working on a 120g.

Ok, figuring the time it would take me to read that HUGE post I will just go with T5's :) Thanks for posting that link. I am returning to the hobby (kinda of, I have had a 29 gallon running in out new house for a while.) Now we are settled in our home I am going to start up my 120 that has been sitting in my den for about a year :(
Thanks!

I agree for that most people, T5 or MH lighting is still the best option. For me, I had some specialized needs so I went from MH lighting to the Solaris. :)

Spleen

if the money is not a big issue, the solaris are really cool. i just got mine yesterday and set them up and turned them on a few hours ago. the lunar phase just kicked on and it is way cool. a bit early for me to have a good judgement yet, but if i don't have to turn on my chiller it will pay for itself. i'm certainly no engineer and don't care to get into all the tech stuff, but if it works and i can get rid of the metal halides and turn off the chiller, i'm happy. you can't beat the look either, which is important to me.as much $$ as i spend on this hobby, what really bothers me is the light bill and the chiller really adds up. i may soon have some metal halides and chiller for sale soon :)
