ph controller ??

I just bought a GEO 624 CR, it came with a Milwaukee controller. I want to order some ph buffer solution for calibration. Where I am ordering from does not have the Milwaukee brand. Is it okay to use another brand of fluid? I don't see why it would matter, but I thought I would ask for opinions first. TIA

Calibration solution is pretty much standard. I like the small packets so if you accidentally contaminate it, you just toss it. I would go for 7.0 and 10.0 and cal to both but check the manual for recommended calibration points.

My Milwaukee controller only uses 7.0 solution to calibrate. Check yours before you get both types of calibration fluid.

If you are using a controller for your reactor then you should use 4.0 and 10.0 calibration fluid.

Mike your Milwaukke should use both, one dial on the front and screw hole on the back.

Mark,

My Milwaukee SMS122 manual says calibrate using 7.0 and 4.0 solution but I also got this card in the box.

I am glad you brought this up, mine says the same thing. How did you calibrate yours? I ordered the 7.01 and the 4.0 just in case.

You should calibrate with both, call Milwaukee if you are unsure.

Mark is correct, two point calibration using 4 and 7 is needed if you are using for a calcium reactor. If using for the tank, then two point using the 7 and 10 is the way to go.

I didn't think about the different pH ranges I'm measuring for the reactor (~6.0) and tank (~8.0) so I'll start calibrating with 4 and 7 for my reactor probe.

Honestly, I don't even care about the accuracy of the reactor probe. I just use the controller to periodically add CO2 since that is easier than running the CO2 all the time and fiddling with the bubble rate.

If Mark ever sends me my new reactor :D then maybe I'll try setting it the proper way.

Mike, I do the same thing. 4 and 7 for my calcium reactor and 7 & 10 for the one in my sump. I got the same manul you two guy's got to. I e-mailed GEO and asked him, and that is what he told me.
