rite guys wow my ph had rapid droped to 7.4 so I moved return line so theres more flow on the top of the water retested ph and its 8.4 whats going on why is my tanks ph swinging like mad issue with ph since started always been like 7.8 and 8.0 but this morning was 8.0 now was 7.4 for 30 mins had the power heads all pointing up and tested again 30 mins later and ph is 8.4

Sounds like your probe needs some attention. Clean and calibrate. If it keeps bouncing around like that then it needs to be replaced.

Hibits not a probe its just a lquid test kit gona get a ph monitor though

Ah, those things are notoriously bad. Throw that useless piece of junk in the trash where it belongs and get a proper pH monitor if you really want to fuss with pH.

Just don't get too hung on it. It's not really very important to the saltwater tank. More of a freshwater worry. Alkalinity is the big one for your seawater.

hi mate yeh gona get a constant read out ph monitor soon y kh is 12 dkh and it wornt go down

I think you are trying to ask why your alk is high. Have you been dosing buffers to try to raise pH? Their effect on pH is always temporary, but they always raise alkalinity. The more you use, the higher the alk goes.

pH of 7.4 is not correct lik mentioned above for reasons already stated. 7.4 will start to dissolve rock and corals and you would see the effects of that. its testing error or bad kit for sure.
regarding alk at 12dkh , some reef salts mix at 12-14 dkh red sea coral pro being once at 13 dkh.
i wouldnt bother changing anything on alk for now it will drop on its own in few days unless you have something that is increasing it, like cal reactor or manual dosing.
