Ph Problem!

I've been raising reef tanks for 6 yrs now, I have no more corals in my tank just a yellow tank and a strawberry grouper, I did my 1st water change in 1 yr ( I know that i've been lazy), I have a pinpoint ph meter and it has been reading 9ph for about a month now so i changed 30% water in my 110gal tank and it still reads 9.0ph, I tested my local water and it has a reading of 8.9ph which is fairly high! I remember the local water use to be like 8.0ph which is just right, should i use ph lower to get it back to 8.2 ph and will 9.0ph stress out my fish? I just had a maroon clown that died yesterday after being healty in my tank for 6 yrs and the fins were decreasing for the past 2 weeks.........., tkx in advance

is there something else I can do to lower ph?

I'm not sure about the fish dieing. However, I had a PH probe that went bad on me and it was giving me a very low reading. I would double check your PH reading with another PH monitor or a regular color test kit.

When was the last time you changed out the probe? They typically need to be changed out after a year or so.

I cked out the probe with ph fluid 10.0 and 7.0, it was a litte off at the 1st test when i did the test with 10.0 fluid (about .3 to be exact), but when I did 2nd test with 7.0 fluid it wasa right on the dot, I did also a regular ph test kit with seachem and it was accurate also, any other suggestion? how is your regular tap water like, oh I also use a 6 stage reverse osomosis filtertration system for all of m top off and water change,
