PH Test kit ?

I just bought a API Ph test kit but it only shows between 7.4 and 8.8. The other make they sold was the same, highest was 8.8.
This is a Hight Range test kit so what do I need to get to test if my PH is above 8.8 ??

Your pH in your salt water tank sould never get that high on its own, it would take some chemical help. Drop test kits are not the best but it will at least give you some idea of the numbers.

Good Luck!

I am dosing kalkwasser

The kalk dosing should be reduced to avoid spiking the pH over 8.8. If you're trying to measure the pH of the kalkwasser itself, that's a difficult issue for hobbyist grade equipment.

You may wihs to consider a ph monitor . I find it far superior to test kits for ph measurement and perhaps less costly in the long run.

I agree with Tom.

Out of all the gadgets recommended for this hobby, I actually think the pH monitor is one of the best investments you can make if you are serious about keeping a reef tank.

I have a Pinpoint and it is invaluable. :)

I just set up a new tank (upgrade from a 3yr old 70g to a new 120). I'll admit that with the 70g, I got lazy after about a year, and I would never test anything. I could tell if the Ph got a little low b/c the fish would "pant" more. With the new (dream)tank, I decided to splurge on a controller (ACjr), and I just set up the Ph probe last night.

The probe was showing a Ph of 8.46 in the evening and 8.32 in the morning. (Fuge light on 24/7 right now). Now, since this is a new(ish) tank with a lot of $$ in it, I'm being extra careful.

Is the 8.46 Ph too high? If so, will going back to a reverse photoperiod keep me more in the 8.3 range?

I agree. Those are excellent levels. The part of your question on reverse photoperiod really depends on the particulars of the reverse photo period set up. How many photosynthesizing organisms would be reversed, for example? In any case, you have very nice levels 24/7 with little variation day and evening.
