Philippine Reef Build

Decided to go with these as part of my clean up crew. Blue legs, scarlets, Mexican red legs etc are not native. These seem to be a good substitute.

LFS only had one yesterday and said they didn't sell well but they will get more in for me.

I haven't decided on a snail or snails yet.

I also picked up a small Hippo tang. Both are in quarantine.

Great way to conceptualize a reef tank and a nice looking aquascape. I'll be following your progress. You are definitely off to a great start.

I'd like to think that whenever we build a reef tank we are attempting to use aquaculture techniques to turn coral rock and rubble into a sustainable reef. Some more successfully than others. The fragging and aquaculture techniques reefers have developed are actually being put into practice in South Florida by the Coral Restoration Foundation to bring dead reefs back to life. If you haven't already, you should check out the website: http://www.coralrestoration.org/

Great people doing great work.

Definately good people. One of the biologists is a member of my local reef club and a former aquarist at the NAIB. Good work they're doing there. I hope other governments are inspired by their efforts.

The system is coming along. The diatom bloom is subsiding. I decided to cut the sunlight out. I'm ready to start adding soft corals soon.
That's about it for now.

I have some things that are costing an inordinate amount of money at the moment. Hopefully I can free up some cash soon to get a couple LED pendants.

Yeah I am having two graduate from High School next week... so I know what you mean. I will be broke by the end of summer with just food and gas money.

Looks like the build has reached a stand still. I have decided to move (could be months before the house sells.) I just hope I can get the tank out of the house without anyone being crushed to death or impaled by broken glass.

Really? Where to? Text me.

That is a lot of good work, now to move it.

OK.. so.. That will give you room to build a 1,000g tank at least.

Pasadena area. I might go bigger eventually... but its not a priority right now.
