So I stopped into phishy business toadya since I was down in C-bus. Is it me or are their prices a little high for the corals. I went to reey systems and they were priced very well. I just felt that $25 for one ric was high. I would like to get everyones opinion.

Don't get me wrong they had some amazing pieces there some of them well worth the price and their display tank with all of their rics was amazing!

I would have to agree with you. When people ask me about Phishy's I tell them it's just like Salty Critter but they are about 10% higher priced with less friendly help. FYI... The guys in CORA will be all over you if you say anything derogatory about Phishy.

Haha thanks for the heads up but I could careless. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with the prices they are charging. However I do like the prices at reef system and they have some nice stuff. I don't think salty is crazy prices. I was able to get my clean up crew for $10 for my tank from salty. It was something like 5-7 snails and 5-7 crabs.

I get stuff from Todd all the time and have never had flatworms. I have never heard anyone say anything about it either.

I had success the items I got from Todd both times I was there and thought his prices were very reasonable. I had not been there for 7 or 8 months though.(no flat worms either)

Wow thanks everyone for the quick responce. I was going to be very sad. However I did find a few nice ric pieces at phishy for a recent price that I might pick up. I really want my 12g nano to be rics mainly with maybe a clam.

Todd had some nice orange rics today. I bought a large RBTA from him while he was running the 20% off sale. I was dreading bringing my 3 kids with me to the store but they actually had a great time and the employees there were friendly and actually played with my kids while I did some business :D
When we got back to the car they said that was their FAVORITE shop they have been to so far and my 15 yr old daughter said, "The people there are SO NICE!"
I would have to agree. I have taken them to Aquatic Technology, Tropical Aquarium, Salty Critter, Byerly's, The Coral Shoppe, Phishy Business, Jack's and a bunch of Petco/Petsmart kind of places. Their second favorite is Tropical Aquarium where they have a kids' room with toys and games to satisfy the little ones while you peruse the selection of fish and now Hector is even stocking a few nice stony corals.

BTW I have never had flatworms from anything I purchased from Reef Systems. If you are really worried about that from any store you can get some Salifert Flatworm Exit and just mix up a half gallon of water from your tank with a few drops to dip the corals before putting into your display. You can also try the Tropic Marin coral dip but I don't think it has anything to do with flatworm removal.

Phisys isnt expensive your just cheap.

Havent you ever been to Aquarium Adventures.... they are about five times higher .... and all their fish have ick

just kidding on the cheap thing.... there isnt anything better down here in columbus

I just remembered that when we visited there with C-Sea as a group he said that he felt they were beneficial and didn't remove them from his system, that's all. I'm not saying everything is covered in them, just to make sure you dip and/or quarantine (which you should be doing anyways. Phishy isn't that bad, in fact some of his Zoa prices are crazy low. It all depends on what you're going there for. We also got a great deal on our RO DI there, he actually encouraged us to get the cheaper one. He's also held the store open after hours for us when we pass through town, since he knows how far of a drive it is for us Clevelanders. Mrs. Phishy rocks too.

I make the trip down to Phishy about twice per year. A lot of his stuff is aquacultured helping to improve the sustainability of our hobby. IMO it is worth a few extra bucks to minimize the impact on our declining natural reefs.
