just wondering who uses a phoenix 14K 250w on a ocean light pendant

Some say that it only looks good on certain ballasts. I have no clue what ballast oeanlight run on

My pink milli is looking a little off color, so I think its time to change bulb.

hated it ........But you may have already seen that in another post ;)

You have a magnetic HQI ballast that drives the bulb @290 watts

Wow, wish i had an electronic ballast.

So, whats the best option for lighting in terms of good color and growth.

have you looked at the giesemann megachrome bulbs?

according to sanjays test, even the coral (14.5k but looks white) is a par monster. im waiting on on delivery on mine, will give you an update when i get it.

some people dont like the pure white color it gives, but all seem to agree that it does color up corals nicely as well as stimulate fast growth.

the bulb is also said not to shift in deviate in color by more than 3% in 3800 hours! so even if im not crazy about it, its a great back up bulb to have that will feed the corals well.

Some more opinions on this would be great. i am running 20K AB bulbs on the 250 oceanlight. I will only be caring for SPS(Tank is only 2 weeks now) and am wondering the best bulb to run on these ballasts for color and growth.

Been told that the ballast was electric???

I only ran ushios, AB 20k and AB 10k. I really never found a bulb I liked alot . Although I did like ushio with heavy actinics.

Here is a pic showing AB10k and AB20k

Don't laugh its one of my older tanks

I ran a de 250w xm 20k on a pfo pendant and reflector over my 20gal for close to a year. I liked the color though it is fairly blue. I don't have that tank anymore because I'm studying out of the country but upon returning here shortly I plan to set up the same setup.

I am considering getting a 250w Helios 20k DE. Apparently they are about the same color as a radium... I personally think there is no better way to get good colors than with 20k lighting. The problem is its low PAR and thus the growth is less. However, I plan on using a set of 20k with 4x54w T5s as well (probably 2xB+, 2xUVL SA). If its too blue I can just swap out 1 or 2 of the actinics for an Aquablue bulb to brighten things up a bit.

Laugh??? I have seen your tank pics and they are very nice, this included. How often do you change your 14k's on the 180?
