Phoenix VS. Ushio

Like the title says, Im running the new Phoenix 150watt hqi hexarc blue 14,000 bulb next to the Ushio 14,000k and the color difference is amazing! Both bulbs are 14k but the Ushio by comparison is very yellow and the Phoenix is a very light blue, but not as dark as a 20k. Not only is the coloration of my coral better but the light blue tint is much more pleasing to the eye than the yellowish colors. Now I just have to wait for Steve to order the other one for me.

Jake is there a difference between these bulbs and the older ones? I just bought a used Coralife Pro fixture for my 75 and it has some used Phoenix 14k bulbs in it and I expected it to be a little bluer. I wonder if the bulbs are just old? The guy I bought it from said they were 6 months old. Should I change them?

the phoenix 14k's have a blue tint, but not nearly as much as 20k's. At 6 months I would let them go another 6 months.

They do have a blue tint just expected more. The pics online seemed a little bit bluer. Maybe they had different actinics. I'm still getting used to the halides. I've only ever had pcs or t5s before. But I sure do like the look of the halide shimmer. :)
