Phosban Reactor w/Rowa phos

I just received a Phosban reactor and Rowa phos yesterday from you folks. I am wondering if I should put some kind of floss in the reactor as well? The Rowaphos is very fine and it seems that even with low flow it would blow right out of the reactor. Right now I have the Rowaphos in the the bag provided and then the bag jammed down the reactor which seems stupid and counter productive to the reactor. To floss or not to floss ?

BTW - You might think of advertising the Rowaphos includes the poly mesh filter bag. (At least the 250 size did - unscrew the lid and look in!) Seems like a selling point.

Hi Reefbone,

Thanks for your post. There are two pieces of sponges that come with the Phosban reactor. One is placed at the bottom of the reactor and the other is placed at the top of the reactor. The sponges keep the media inside the reactor. If you are finding that some of the media is getting past the sponge, you can double up on those sponges (we should receive a shipment of replacement Phosban sponges in two weeks). Also, the reactor requires a very slow flow rate: 80-90 GPH. Having a too high of a flow rate can be a cause for the media being blown out of the reactor. In this case, just throttle back on the valve a bit more.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

Sincerely,
Joseph

Hi Lynn,

The 250 mL container should have included a filter bag. Please email me at customercare@marinedepot.com with your account information and I will be happy to mail out a filter media bag for you, or include one with your next order. Please reference this post when you email.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

Sincerely,
Joseph
