Phosphate Reactors

Thinking of getting a phosphate reactor for my tanks. I need some info if it's worth it or not. I've had good results on just using PhosBan in a bag inside my AC Mech filter. Any info would be great.

TIA
John

WHat if you don't test your phosphate?

if u clean your front glass everyday ,then is time to change the media.if your rocks look like a your front lawn then is time to change your media.if your tangs look fatter then your puffer then is time to change your media.:)

I have two of the two lil fishies phosphate reactor. One is used with Phosphoban, and the other one is used for carbon. My phosphate level has been zero since I started using one. I think it was .05 or 1 prior to using it.

that's interesting... I've been thinking of getting a second one and use it for carbon filtration as well.

Anyone run phosphate and carbon in the same reactor??

I do. Seems to work fine.

I don't run a phosphate reactor but my rocks are free of algae, and my tangs are a little bit on the skinny side and I clean my glass every other day or two. Would I see any benefits in adding one?

Too funny! :D

Elite......i just started using PURA Phoslock a little while ago(has activated carbon in with the PO4 removing media) i like it so far :)

Ok, I have a two little fishies phosban reactor in my car from Drs Foster Smith.... Was wondering what kind of media does everyone use so I can order it all @ once.

Dannie - I use Phosphoban. I haven't used any other media.

Elite - I opted not to run both the phosphate media and the carbon in the same reactor because I change out my carbon a lot more frequently than I change out the phosphate media. For $32 bucks, it was worth having a second one. Mine is currently plumb in series.
