Phosphates

How do I purposely raise phosphates in my tank just a little? I took out the phosphate remover 3 weeks ago after learning that my nitrate reactor's bio pellets actually need some phosphate to grow nitrate removing bacteria. My Salifert test kit expires in Oct. 2020 but reads 0 phosphates and nitrates still climb quickly even after water changes and less food being fed to fish. Has anyone used Brightwell's NeoPhos with any success? Any suggestions would help.

Sounds like your on the right track. You could use NeoPhos or Seachem phosphorus. I prefer using a Hanna to measure. I'm fighting dinos with 0 phosphate and nitrate, so I'm going to start dosing NeoPhos and NeoNitro tomorrow. Targeting .1 and 10 ppm.
