Photo Sensor + Wavebox help

I assume that the wavebox controller is supposed to stop pulsing whenever the photo cell is connected, is this correct? If that's the case, I may need to order a new photo cell. My controller continues to pulse no matter what I do to that photo cell. I've tried wrapping it up so there's no way it's getting any light without any luck.

As an alternate, can I just have my Aquacontroller III cut the power at night and restore it in the morning or is that bad for the wavebox?

The photocell should turn off the wavebox when it is exposed to total darkness. Please double check that it is firmly plugged in. It is possible to have it not plugged in all the way, it can be a tight fit.
