PIC - Is This Chaeto? LFS says it is.

I paid $10 for this wad, which they said is chaeto. Is it?

I have read that chaeto doesn't go sexual, whereas most caulerpa requires light 24x7 to prevent it from doing so. That's why I wanted chaeto.

i dont think i see any chaeto in there. most of the algae looks like caulerpa prolifera... but i could be wrong

that is caulerpa prolifera. dont be too paranoid about sexual. just prune it every so often and you will be fine.
prolifera is my fave macro and it grows fast. watch it turn an empty part of the tank into a nice seabed. also any extra you get as it grows can be traded at fish stores for something else.
chaeto looks like curly green string. go to ebay and type in macro algae or chaetomorpha and check out the pix. you may also want to tell the store where you got this from the proper ID. good luck

Yeah, well...at least they HAVE macroalgae. The other two LFS's don't even have it. So, it appears to be caulerpa prolifera from the posts. Thanks everyone.
