Picked up an interesting LTA today.

I havn't seen this color yet. I don't think it's a dye job but who knows...

It is an aquagreen color w/ blue tips... Pretty sure it is an LTA, it has a red foot and was curly q'ed at the LFS. This is only after a few hours in my tank. It appears to be getting it's footing but not taking silversides yet as you can see in the pic.

Very much bleached, LTAs are much darker than this. It will probably hide under the rock, leave it be and feed it tiny peices of silverside until it reaquires zooxanthellea

it's actually not as bleached as it looks in the pic. I can't get the white balance right on my camera...

it is green w/ blue tips....

however i am sure it will darken a bit. But there is no white or transparency right now.

just havn't seen a blue one before

Nor I, well in that case you are a lucky fellow. Needless to say my advice still holds, try even smaller pieces or mysis. LTAs are usually quite good eaters, well mine is anyway .

yeah he's sticky and ate at the LFS....probably not eating because he is still getting settled.

Ahh ok, let him get his water balanced out. I dont feed new anems for first 2 or 3 days to let them sort themselves out.
One of my lfs has a nice green one which i really want, but i dont have anymore space in my sandbed!! GRRR.
Maybe a sand filled pipe in the rockwork!!hmm

yeah that's what i figured thanks...

I am hoping he likes to stay down near the sand bed... I ended up giving away my RBTA because it would walk about every so often and annoy my corals.

My A. nigripes hasn't been the same since i removed the RBTA. Today I found this nice looking LTA. I remember reading they prefer the sand.

Plus the color is unreal. It was a good deal so I won't be too disappointed if the color doesn't stay like it is If it's too good to be true it probably isn't right? lol

They do prefer the sand indeed, wont ever go into the rocks, but even so they can travel around the sandbed, and they have a nasty sting. Id expect it to change, very few light coloured anems stay that way in aquaria, most tend to darken up to gain more from the lower lighting we have. Id love to see it in a months time, lets hope it stays a good colour, and perhaps you'll learn to use your camera by then ;)

There are indeed blue lta's. There was thread on here not that long ago about one. I went ot my local lfs and asked if we could order one and they did have one on there list. Good luck with it.

Lisa:)

I have seen a lot of LTAs that have that blue color. It is very striking. All the ones I have seen have always been somewhat bleached. It will be interesting to see if it keeps its blue once it gets more of its zooxanthellae back.

I have one that looked almost exactly like yours when I got it. I don't think it is bleached, but I'll bet it was living in very shallow water. Mine has gone from a beautiful pale cream with blue tentacles to a more standard brownish pink with a slight green cast.

here is a pic just after I got it

and here it is a year later

Mine went through much the same transition as maww's.
I plan on upgrading my lighting soon and seeing if that makes any difference, but so far it doesn't look anything like when I bought it. (approx. 7 months ago)

Mine is similar in color. Green with white tips. He was bleached for a while, but is slowly getting back color. But the green is getting darker, as in dark green. I have a feeling it won't stay green, but its pretty cool looking for now.

here are some new pics tonight as a little update....It turns out it was pretty bleached like everyone suspected...But it is still pretty cool looking now. It has purple/blue/green in it...Who knows what it will end up looking like down the road...
